We would love to introduce you to one of our much loved Retail Partners, Oli + Jac. A baby, lifestyle, home and gifting store located in Fairy Meadow, NSW. We sat down with owner Michaela to chat all things from how their business started, their favourite Mindful & Co Kids products, inspiration and much more!

Q&A

Can you tell us a little bit about your store and how it started?

Oli + Jac caters for all of your lifestyle and wellness needs with a particular focus on baby products. My vision for Oli + Jac is to reflect this notion of self-care and be a welcoming space for new parents and their support crew to come have a chat and grab a little something nice.

While on maternity leave, I was offered a redundancy due to the effect of Covid-19 on the employment sector. Soon after I saw a ‘For Lease’ sign in a little store across the road from my Pilates studio – this is when I started to explore the idea for Oli + Jac.

Having always been a creative person with a well-known love of retail therapy and the added experience of working in marketing, I felt that starting Oli + Jac just made sense.

Your store is so lovingly curated, what products appeal to you as a buyer?

I choose to stock brands that I personally love and trust, whilst also seeking out sustainable local and Australian brands with timeless products that can be enjoyed again and again.

What Mindful & Co Kids product is a favourite amongst your beautiful customers?

Our bestseller by far would be the ‘ABCs of Mindfulness’. I think our customers are drawn to the versatility of it - It can be used as a story time book, colouring book (or both). Plus! It’s educational with beautiful mindful poems. It’s a win win!

Paired with the ‘Affirmation Colouring Pencils’ it makes for the perfect gift.

What is your favourite Mindful & Co Kids product?

The ‘Yoga Flash Cards’ are a fan favourite in our household! My daughter, Olive was gifted these for her 1st birthday and although she wasn’t quiet at the stage of mimicking the poses, she LOVED the pictures and I LOVED the durability of the cards.

Now that Olive is a bit older and can replicate the poses, we enjoy getting the yoga mat out to have a mindful moment - filled with equal parts stillness and giggles.

What are you most grateful for this year?

I’m grateful for family, friends and our beautiful customers, whom without I would not have been able to survive during such a challenging year (with Covid, extreme weather and the rising cost of living).

It is my hope that Oli + Jac will allow me to have a family-focused job, pursue something I love and take my community of customers along for the ride with me. I loved the idea that my child will grow up in this community and I’ll be able to meet fellow mums too.
